Contradiction: Spot the Liar is a love letter to Agatha Christie and other murder mysteries of its genre. Everything is saturated with style and charm, including the main character. Your job is to guide our detective as he interviews and gathers clues in this seemingly dickensian like village. Of course not everything is at it appears and it up to you to unravel the mystery. Being a FMV(Full-Motion Video) game, Contradiction is completely based off its acting. Which it does exquisitely. The mechanics of the game while very simple, are complimented by the clever writing and eerie atmosphere. As hours go by in the game, more of the story is slowly revealed to you and the plot thickens. The contradiction system in the game has you matching statements and clues, trying to catch suspects in a lie. This isn't easy in the least but there are helpful hint systems in place if you do get stuck. While many will compare this with Her Story, this is a completely different experience. You are far more involved and progress is completely based on your keen senses of listening and deduction. There are times that Contradiction can feel a little cheesy but that all plays into the genre of the game. So get your thinking cap on, its time to solve some delicious murder!!
